Goose, (the cat) and Masceo, (the human) Daily(ish) Music Recommendation. (1 minute videos featuring Goose the superstar and deep cut music selection samples with a reason to listen)
Listening to music is a way of life for me. So much so that I keep daily/weekly/monthly/yearly logs and playlists of all of the music that I experience. (Roughly 1000 EPs, LPs, Pikes, Live Sets and Symphonies a year). With music so easily accessible, as well as algorithms, friends, family, and campers always giving me great music recommendations i am never out of listening material, its infinite. With this in mind, It is easy for me to follow some very simple music listening rules to keep in good listening habits. 1. I always critical listen with headphones. (Comfortable isolation) 2. I only listen to music that I enjoy, think is interesting, or applicable to its contribution to music. I am not a critic. I am a musician interested in finding joy and inspiration through the music that I experience. 3. I never compare the music I am listening too in that moment, to music that I have heard before. I have trained myself to give every LP, EP, set of live music, pike, symphony and any other music selection, it’s own space in the music world without comparing it to anything else. (Statements like… “This reminds me of,” or “This sounds like,” are banned in my world). This is very important to my process as a listener and a music contributor. 4. I always find the joy. My music listening habits are not work, a burden, nor a project. It’s more of an obsession where I’m always looking forward to seeking the time to experience the next music selection. After expanding my small business (MEW Productions LLC) to several music camps and communities across the USA and Canada, I continued to encourage an open mind to music which has led to great discussions about music that always comes with shared excellent recommendations. To expand that thought process I devised a simple way to reach as many of these engaged folks and interested communities along with anybody else wanting music recommendations. Goose the cat enters as the star as I find a simple way to convince you to check out a deep cut track in less than a minute all while giving a “for the best aural experience, use headphones” reminder.
